Who we are
Budget Ahead is operated by Ticket Aura Limited ("we", "us"), the data controller for the personal data described here. To reach us, email support@budgetaheadapp.com.
What we collect
Your email address and password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see your password), your display name, country, preferred currency and time zone, the financial records you choose to enter: accounts, balances, transactions, budgets, bills and savings goals, receipt photos you choose to attach, and email addresses you enter to invite someone to a household. We do not connect to your bank and we do not collect card numbers or bank login details.
How we use it
Only to run the app for you: to sign you in, to back up and sync your records between your devices, and to calculate summaries and advice. Receipt photos can be read on your phone when the installed app supports it. When you import a PDF statement it is sent to our server only to read its text and is not stored. Spending advice is calculated from your own records; it is general guidance, not regulated financial advice. Our legal basis is performing our contract with you; for optional AI features it is your consent.
What we never do
We do not sell your data, show you advertising, track you across other apps or websites, or share your records with anyone for their own purposes.
AI features (optional, Premium)
After you give consent and use an AI feature, Budget Ahead sends the selected receipt photo, or an allowlisted summary of monthly category totals (currency, month, spending and budget amounts), to OpenAI. Receipt photos may contain personal details printed on the receipt. The coach summary excludes names, emails, account names, shops, notes and receipt items. OpenAI does not use API data for model training by default. We request no stored responses; abuse-monitoring logs may be retained for up to 30 days, with exceptions for legal, safety or service requirements. You can withdraw consent at any time in Settings → AI features. We count daily requests to enforce service limits.
Subscriptions
If you subscribe to Plus or Premium, Apple (or Google) takes the payment. We receive your subscription status, such as the plan and renewal date, but never your card or payment details.
Shared households
Joining a household gives its current members access to that shared ledger and attached receipts. Your personal ledger stays separate. Your display name identifies household membership and savings contributions. Owners and administrators manage access. Leaving or removing a member ends their cloud access, but cannot erase copies they previously exported or viewed.
Who processes it for us
Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage, London, UK region), OpenAI (only for the optional AI features above) and Apple or Google (app distribution and subscription payments). They process data only on our instructions or under their own privacy terms for payments. Where data leaves the UK or EU it is protected by standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
How long we keep it
We keep personal records while your account is active. Account deletion first removes personal receipt files, then your login and personal ledger. A failed cleanup can be retried. You must transfer ownership or delete households you own first. Shared household records remain for other members; contribution attribution is anonymised when your login is deleted. Provider backups follow the provider's retention cycle. Minimal consent and deletion audit records are retained without a link to your deleted login.
Your rights
You can see, correct and export all of your data in the app (Settings → Export), and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete my account, or see https://budgetaheadapp.com/delete-account.html). Depending on where you live, including the UK, EU, California and Canada, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority (in the UK, the ICO). Security
Database access rules keep personal ledgers private and restrict shared ledgers to current household members. We use encrypted connections and an optional app lock. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
Children
Budget Ahead is not intended for children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above and tell you in the app if the change is significant.
